GENERALPURPOSE OFJOB:

TheForensic Nurse(RN)isaprofessionalRegisteredNurse whoprovidesdirectnursingcaretoassignedpatientpopulation.Theforensicnurse,utilizingthenursingprocess,plansanddeliverseffectivepatientcarewithintheTexasscopeofpracticeandwithintheframeworkofDriscollHealthSystem'svisionofexcellenceandintegratedcaredelivery.Theforensicnursecomplieswithintheestablishedstandardsofpractice,policies andclinicalguidelinesreflectiveofevidence-basedbestpractice.Thepracticeof the forensic nursecontributestocreatinganenvironmentthatispatientfocused;familycenteredandisdesignedtoprovidecontinuationofcareandpatienttransitionmanagement.
The forensic nurse provides a timely medical/forensic examination of the sexual assault patient using acompassionate and victim sensitive approach. Provides timely photo-documentation with a compassionateapproach.The forensic nurse serves under the supervision of the CARE Team Clinical Coordinator and SeniorDirector of Emergency and Intensive Services.The forensic nurse operates within the framework of DriscollChildren'sHospital'sMissionStatement and Core Values.

Maintains utmost level of confidentiality at all times.
Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.Demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance andintegrity guidelines.
Serves as Forensic Nurse Examiner on duty and on call as scheduled.
Serves as a member of the Multidisciplinary Team.
Performs within scope of nursing practice and within hospital nursing policies. Performs duties as assigned.
Maintains forensic documentation.
Maintains forensic photo documentation.
EDUCATION AND/OR
Experience:

Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing with a minimum of Associates Degreein Nursing. BSNpreferred.
Current RN license in the State of Texas
Minimum of2years clinical experience in emergency and/or maternal or pediatric health care.__ Successful completion of the Forensic Nurse Examiner training within9months of employment.__Successful completionof DCH orientation course
CERTIFICATES,LICENSES,REGISTRATIONS:

List the licenses, certificates,or registrations that are required to perform the essential duties of this job.
CurrentRN licenseto practice in the State of Texas as a professional nurse.
Maintain current BLS CPR certification
Currentor pendingstatecertification(certification of currency)through the Texas Office of the AttorneyGeneral as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner(CA and CP SANE)to beobtain to within 6 months of hire.
Attain at least one National Forensic Nursing certificationofcompetency(SANE-A&/or SANE-P) within 2years of employment and maintain currency of that certification.Once SANE-Aand SANE-Pcertificationshave been obtained, it is no longer required to maintain OAG certification.
Has previously completed a minimum of one advanced skills course (ie. PALS, TNCC, ENPC). Currentcertification is not required.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
